Doomsday myth obscures plight of indigenous people http://f24.my/UPXtEx
i think the actual "national struggle with obesity" is that people are extremely intolerant of it, beyond all reason. hello stigma!
anybody calling any child's body, fat or not, a "national security threat" sickens me. not kidding.
"Can we please acknowledge that obesity is not healthy?' OMG this is like a broken record. yes we are all going to die! happy?
Once in awhile it's based on something significant like having a horrible thing happen to you here. But mostly? It's based on superiority2/2
My experience with L.A. hatred, is that most of it is from snobbery. L.A. is "shallow" and "fake" and has "no center" etc. etc. 1/2
Sometimes people don't want to be radical Sometimes they just want to be happy Sometimes those things intersect for some, others not really
"portrait of Honey Boo Boo was made from 25 pounds of garbage." oh how funny, depicting a child made out of trash, you are so clever. :/
Personally speaking, the hardest part of being fat is other peoples' reactions and treatment of me due to my fat.
I am all for people making whatever nutrition choices they choose to make. But outright demonizing foods that other people eat isn't cool.
@fatbodypolitics interesting there is so much attention paid to this segment of the diabetic population - most fat people don't get diabetes
"7 ways women could change the world -- if we'd just let them" well, who's the "we" here and who is doing the "letting"?
#MakersChat sitting w/ my 63 yr old chicana mother hearing her say why werent chicana feminists included? She's gonna write a letter
this is the thing about the language of the "obesity epidemic:" I am a person, I don't like being treated like a problem to be solved.
.@etamny this is so bad I want to lol. yes, so "unfathomably odd" that there is a movement of fat people who refuse to be treated like shit.
"Quit pretending you have a literary culture, Los Angeles" Fine, I'll quit pretending to read your rag NY Daily News. :p
if you put a skinny Ursula on my dash with no critique, it is an instant unfollow. kthanxbai
the belief that "you shouldn't be treated bad! btw your body is a problem and we should prevent people like you" is still incredibly hurtful
look: fat stigma is a thing. weight discrimination is a thing. people have the right to question programs like Michele Obama's focus on fat
