I retired my Sept 11th story years ago; I will be honoring the day with a 1 year old's birthday party instead.
Not one Christmas present bought. No tree. No Santa (as usual). This year, we opted for travel instead. Bonus: old toys are new on return!
Me: "Hey, who taught you how to fold towels?" The 4yo: "No one. I just figured it out because I saw it was a thing."
Movers booked. Plane tickets booked. It's official: after 4.5 years in Europe, we're moving to San Francisco!

Pro tip: when kids pretend their room is a toy shop awaiting customers, they clean & organize their entire inventory voluntarily.
